Farya Faraji
Добавлен 13 мар 2018
Welcome to my channel! My goal is to showcase musical traditions from all over the globe, regardless of culture, ethnicity and religion. I want this channel to be like a musical world museum, a library of musical traditions from all over the world and all over time. I make three general types of content here: arrangements of historical/world music that respects each culture and time period’s authenticity, original compositions that are more creative but still utilise aspects of world music, and informative videos where I explore certain subjects using academic research and sources.
Ai Vist Lo Lop - Medieval Occitan Song
Arrangement by Farya Faraji, vocals by Ila Rodriguez, Aurora Aguilar and Farya Faraji. This is a reworking of a version I had initially uploaded in 2021; the reworking introduced more historically accurate performance practices based on more thorough research. This is a historically informed rendition of an old medieval song from Occitania, today's southern France where the Occitan language was historically predominant. It's widely believed that this song's origin and its melody may have roots in liturgical music that was repurposed in a comedic and parodic manner to fit the reality of the pastoral commoners.
The arrangement is historically informed and uses the known features of Medieval...

Bordeiaș Bordei Bordei - Romanian Song
Просмотров 12 тыс.14 часов назад
Music by Anton Pann, vocals & arrangement by Farya Faraji. This is a song by Anton Pann, one of the most renowned figures of Romanian music. Born in the 1800's, Pann was a folklorist and musicologist, as well as a talented musician and composer himself, and many of his songs were known for their often lewd humour and emphasis on pastoral scenes and themes, such as this one. My arrangement uses ...
Mes Pas Semez - Renaissance French Song

Instrumentation by Tommaso Tarsi, vocals & arrangement by Farya Faraji. This is a 16th century French song arranged by Adrian Le Roy, a renowned music publisher, composer and lute player of the 1500's. I use the term arranged, since this melody is found in many different variations of the era, such as the song Pavana con su Glosa from Spain, bu Antonio de Cabezón. It seems that this melodic for...
Cumberland Gap - American Song

Vocals & arrangement by Farya Faraji, banjo by TheSessionGuy. This is an Appalachian folk song attested as early as the late 1800's, with many diverse variations, not only in melody but in lyrical content, some being war songs from the Civil War, others telling the story of the first Englishman to set foot in the Cumberland Gap, etc. My arrangement is a pretty minimal one using the basic sounds...

The arrangement is historically informed and follows the conventions of Medieval music found in the treat...
Aras Han Aras - Turkish Song

Vocals & arrangement by Farya Faraji. This is a Turkish folk song from the eastern regions of Anatolia, mostly around Erzurum. This version is in Maqam Huseyni, a mode similar to the Western minor, but with a second interval that's flatter, often not as flat as the Maqam Bayat used in Arabic music, or Shur in Iranian music. The instruments consist of a short neck bağlama and a kopuz, with davul...

La Guillotine Permanente - French Revolution Song
Просмотров 31 тыс.Месяц назад
Vocals & arrangement by Farya Faraji. This is a song dating from the French Revolution. I arranged this piece in the style of the era, using a harpsichord, an instrument at the very end of its days as its usage was dying out by the late 1700's in mainstream Western music, a fortepiano, and an ensemble of cellos and violins. I chose to arrange this in a chamber music style rather than the more t...

1:10:59 The Crusaders got a lot of help from the Armenians of Cicilia and Jerusalem has an Armenian Quarter, therefore we can assume there are Armenians in the background at any time in the movie (other than the scenes in Europe ofc), therefore the duduk is totally justified in Kingdom of Heaven Checkmate liberals
You may think this is a joke but there are actual morons who use these arguments non ironically
Loreena McKennitt used this melody in her song "Sacred Shabbat" on her album An Ancient Muse. It's so infectious!
praying for a Mesopotamian version of this someday
They did not have throat singing like the Mongolians. However they did have galdr which might have sounded like the screaming way of singing that is used in Black Metal
Could you please share what sources and historical research suggest Galdr may have sounded like Black Metal?
NASIL SİKTİK ANANIZI HAHAHAHA
While I love the bombastic and grandiose 'I am Cyrus' composition, I honestly like this more. There's a level of royal grace and cinematic epicness, but its more subtle.
Türk demek Tarih demektir Tarih demek Türk demektir Türklük, Tarih, Harp, Kültürdür bu üçlüyü bozmaya çalışanlar tarih boyunca dersini almıştır kimisi yıkıldı kimisi kayıp verdi kimisi korktu Türkler barbar değildir fetheden bir Yiğitlerdir Açlar nasıl koşarsa aşa Türk de koşar öyle harbe -Nihal ATSIZ🐺
Increíble 👏👏👏
I think that Ennio Morricone did the same thing for western music
I’m just listening to this and I kept wondering why the melody sounded familiar. That’s because it was used in Blackmore’s Night “Play Minstrel Play”!
Asta ascult eu cand sunt beat.
I really appreciate your RUclips channel. Thank you 🙏

Reminds me of that time when I was reading a satirical 17th century German picaresque novel and in the first chapter the then child protagonist describes playing the bagpipe (interestingly using a word that could literally translate to bagpipe rather than the modern German word for bagpipe) whilst hearding sheep, which inadvertedly ends up drawing the attention of a group of soldiers who would then go on to brutally pillage his home. And I do remember thinking "Oh, so they had bagpipes then and it obviously wasn't thought off as a foreign instrument".
Well, there was a time when there was minimal bathing in europe, but it wasn't the medieval era. People in the Middle Ages really loved their bathhouses as a rule (as a fun game, you can look up how many German cities have the prefix "Bad", meaning bath. Pretty much any place named Bad anything had a more or less noteworthy bathhouse or therm at some point). It should be noted that in the time when people did actually bathe very little (mostly the 17th century), that doesn't mean they necessarily had bad hygiene. Hands and head would still be washed normally, the rest of the body would be wiped down, albeit with minimal water usage, and quite importantly, they made sure to change clothing often. We're talking about something that was particularily common in higher social classes, who both: 1: Could afford to change their clothes at least once a day (and wearing clean, dry clothes at all times goes a long way to keeping you clean) 2: Didn't need to engage in physical labour, meaning they didn't sweat as much. I think it's important to consider that bathing and showering, whilst a very common way to keep clean these days, is not the only viable way. These people certainly didn't wallow in filth, but they believed that submerging your body in water too often would prove detrimental to ones health.
Bu nasıl bizans mehter marşı çalıyorlar 😂
I really hate how hard those "middle eastern desert sand vibe" videos make finding actual compilations of music from pretty much any non-european culture or region. They flood the results of any RUclips search unless you know names of artists or regional genres already, but if you don't and are just trying to get introduced to new things you have to go through a lot of that digital junk to find anything remotely authentic.
Translate 🙂👍🏻⚔️🗡️
